Bird Shit Test

One of our first full-afternoon daygame sessions in London happened shortly after I came back from a six-month break. My travel stories had inspired Arsene and I asked him to come along to push me to approach. He was not doing it himself just yet but was happy to help me. Those sessions were really fun: long conversations, banter, some good approaches and then debrief in the evening around a gourmet burger. It wasn’t long before Arsene decided to have a go himself.

One sunny afternoon we were walking along the Thames on South Bank. I was wearing one of my favourite cheap T-shirts. We had done a few street-stops already so we were in a light-hearted, happy mood -this is what it does to you.

I was just about to approach a girl on a bench when I felt a wet splat hit my tee: bird poo. Arsene noticed and started laughing. Seriously what are the odds of this happening in the middle of an approach? I kept going, undeterred, and I asked the girl for a tissue -indirect situational opener you could say. But I didn’t build on it. I just used the tissue to clean-up and we kept on walking, laughing it off.

The stain was starting to dry off after we crossed the Thames at Embankment. This is where I spotted an elegant Asian girl standing near the station. She was smartly dressed and looked like she was waiting for someone. I forgot about the poo stain, walked to her directly smiling and opened with a compliment. The conversation immediately took a good turn. At one point in the chat she said she was a successful handbag designer. I didn’t take her seriously so she showed me some of her creations: indeed, her name was in Google and the search returned pictures of funny-shaped handbags with triangles. We exchanged numbers and said goodbye. A few days later we were meeting for an evening drink.

Ok so what is the point of this short story? Is there anything to take away?

Not much really. Apart from just a little crack in old strongly-held beliefs: if a direct daytime approach and a playful mood are enough to allow you to meet a sexy fashion designer despite wearing a cheap T-shirt covered in dried-up bird poo then what else can you do? Try this with Tinder.
